New - Residency in Brazil with a minimum real estate investment.


On October 9, 2018 the Brazilian department of immigration published a new law authorizing residency for foreigners who invest a minimum of R$1 million (approximately US$253,000) in foreign capital in Brazil for the purposes of purchasing or constructing real estate.  This amount can be reduced by up to 30% if the real estate is located in the North or North East of the country.  The minimum investment value can be applied to the purchase of a single piece of real estate or the combination of multiple real estate assets.  In addition the purchase of the real estate can be financed.


The initial term of the residency is for two years which can be renewed for an indefinite period after.
